Caracol Television was prime time's star last night in the Dominican Republic, with the premiere of two super-series packed with action, suspense and intrigue: "Surviving Escobar, Alias JJ" debuted at 9 pm on the Telesistema Dominicano network, and, at 10 pm, "One Way Out" began its broadcast on Tele Antillas.
Based on the book "Surviving Pablo Escobar", the series produced by Caracol Television narrates how John Jairo Velasquez Vásquez "Alias JJ", Pablo Escobar's right-hand man and last living member of the Medellin Cartel, manages to survive his stint in jail, after turning himself in to the authorities. His life will be turned upside down with the death of the drug lord, forcing him to face his old enemies behind bars. Everything will be allied against him and his only way out will be his ability to grapple with a world full of pitfalls and dangers.
"One Way Out", written by the well-known creator of "Without Breasts There Is No Paradise", Gustavo Bolívar, it takes a story to screen, based on actual facts, about what was for many years the most dangerous neighborhood in the Americas, a place outside the control of the police. Juliana and Andrés, two youths who fall into this hellish neighborhood, will struggle to get out any way they can, putting their lives at risk. Both of them, together with other people who have seen their lives dragged through that place by drug consumption, will fight to find the strength necessary to survive. Love will be their only way out.
Shot on digital 4k, with film optics and 100% in exteriors, these striking stories will take Dominican audience's adrenaline to a whole new level.
